Senior Scientist, Conjugation Chemistry

hC Bioscience is pioneering tRNA drug products which include a variety of delivery approaches. We are seeking a highly motivated Chemist to design and synthesize oligonucleotide conjugates and lipid conjugates to discover and develop enhanced delivery options for our tRNA platform. The successful candidate will work cross-functionally with tRNA discovery scientists and formulation scientists to create conjugates that provide for targeting and/or increased cytosolic entry and closely with translational biology to evaluate performance in vitro and in vivo.

SUMMARY

hC Bioscience is pioneering tRNA drug products which include a variety of delivery approaches.  We are seeking a highly motivated Chemist to design and synthesize oligonucleotide conjugates and lipid conjugates to discover and develop enhanced delivery options for our tRNA platform.   The successful candidate will work cross-functionally with tRNA discovery scientists and formulation scientists to create conjugates that provide for targeting and/or increased cytosolic entry and closely with translational biology to evaluate performance in vitro and in vivo. 

 RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Identify small molecules, peptides, and natural products from the field of targeted delivery and/or cell penetration, adapt them for use with tRNA, and establish proprietary constructs for enhanced delivery of tRNA therapeutics
  • Define linker moieties or pre-conjugated phosphoamidites for CROs to incorporate into RNA-based oligonucleotides to enable the discovery of efficient and bioactive conjugation
  • Design, synthesize, and purify novel conjugates of oligonucleotides
  • Work with analytical chemistry to characterize conjugated products
  • Serve as a chemistry expert on oligonucleotide modification
  • Assist with the development of project strategy
  • Support and engage with strategic partnerships regarding targeted delivery
  • Facilitate LNP formulation team use of lipid/PEG-lipid conjugates
  • Author invention records and patent filings
  • Maintain an electronic notebook and present plans and key findings at meetings

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ph.D. in organic chemistry, biochemistry or related field with 3-8 years of relevant post-doctoral industry or academic experience
  • Hands-on experience in the chemistry of modifying, conjugating or synthesizing nucleic acids, peptides or proteins

·       Versatility in multi-step organic synthesis including purification methods

  • Strong communication, critical thinking, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to effectively plan and organize complex work activities and prioritize tasks.
