Scientist I, In Vivo Pharmacology, Oncology

Position summary:

hC Bioscience, Inc. is seeking a Scientist I, In vivo Pharmacology, Oncology, based in the Greater Boston Area.

hC Bioscience is dedicated to improving the lives of patients with the development of first-in-class tRNA-based therapeutics targeting protein dysfunction. hC Bioscience’s innovative approach to precision protein editing has the potential to treat genetically defined conditions which account for 10-15% of all human disease.

This position will involve the close coordination of efforts with scientists in immunology and drug development, as well as participation in experimental design and execution, data generation, and analysis. The candidate will be responsible for communication of findings to the research team and active participation in project teams. The position will afford the opportunity to work alongside a highly dynamic and collaborative team to develop an entirely new therapeutic modality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop and execute in vivo experiments to verify target engagement of therapeutic tRNAs in tumor models.
  • Perform in vivo procedures to evaluate PK/PD and efficacy of therapeutic candidates. In vivo procedures include 1) intravenous (IV), intraperitoneal (IP), subcutaneous (SC), and intratumoral (IT) dosing, 2) blood collection via submandibular and/or cardiac puncture, 3) xenograft/syngeneic tumor model establishment and tumor caliper measurement, 4) IVIS imaging, 5) necropsies and tissue collection.
  • Execute, troubleshoot, and optimize standard protocols, and survey scientific literature to inform the development of additional assays.
  • Rigorously document research methods and results and effectively communicate findings to the organization at internal meetings.

Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. or equivalent degree in biology, biochemistry, bioengineering, molecular biology or similar discipline
  • Previous experience working with oncology animal models is required.
  • Proficiency in utilizing software such as Graph Pad, Microsoft office etc. for data analysis and figure generation is required.
  • Experience with siRNA, mRNA and/or oligonucleotide delivery in in-vivo disease models is preferred.
  • Passionate about scientific discovery, self-motivated, and eager to learn new skills and contribute to the success of the organization
  • Exceptional organizational, communication, and critical thinking skills, and the ability to thrive in an interdependent and idea-rich environment

  • Perform in vivo procedures to evaluate PK/PD and efficacy of therapeutic candidates. In vivo procedures include 1) intravenous (IV), intraperitoneal (IP), subcutaneous (SC), and intramuscular (IM) dosing, 2) blood collection via submandibular and/or cardiac puncture, 3) IVIS imaging, 4) necropsies and tissue collection.
  • Execute, troubleshoot, and optimize standard protocols, and survey scientific literature to inform the development of additional assays.
  • Rigorously document research methods and results and effectively communicate findings to the organization at internal meetings.
