Senior/Principal Research Associate, Process Development
Position Summary:
hC Bioscience is dedicated to improving the lives of patients with the development of first-in-class tRNA-based therapeutics targeting protein dysfunction. hC Bioscience’s innovative approach to precision protein editing has the potential to treat genetically defined conditions which account for 10-15% of all genetic disease patients.
tRNA as a molecule can be viewed as a platform from which many variations can be implemented to treat a wide variety of diseases. As part of the CMC team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing process development activities to meet program deadlines. You must be familiar with a wide range of separation and purification techniques such as anion exchange and tangential flow filtration. The ideal candidate will have experience with protein and polynucleotide downstream processing, including in-process analytics.
Key Responsibilities:
- Independently conduct complex experiments within a project scope, exercising judgment to evaluate a variety of technical factors, and obtain optimum solutions.
- Independently provides work group with technical guidance and problem resolution related to methods, procedures and processes.
- Utilizes assigned literature to increase knowledge base and implement improvements.
- Prepares and presents technical information at meetings. Contributes technical information for company patent efforts.
- Troubleshoots non-routine methods, instrumentation, or software issues and recommends systems, processes, or changes within project scope to meet objectives
- Record experimental data in an electronic laboratory notebook.
Qualifications & Experience:
- A BS with 5-10 years of experience or an M.S. with 2+ years’ industry experience, or equivalent.
- Experience with early-stage (PhI and PhII) process development, including technology transfer to CDMOs.
- Experience with lipid nanoparticles or antibody-drug conjugates is advantageous.
- Skilled in downstream processing such as chromatography and tangential flow filtration is a must.
- Must have excellent organizational and communication skills.
